Justice denied or mercy triumphs
Is this an outrageous slap in the face of justice? The right message is to give this murderer 5 years imprisonment or it might appear to lack mercy to do otherwise.
Personally I think the judge should be prosecuted for this outrageous ruling. What a joke. Celebrity exemption once again in action.
“In her sentencing, Judge Masipa ruled a non-custodial sentence would send the wrong sentence to the community, but a long sentence would not be appropriate because it would appear to lack mercy.”

hear hear Gael.
No one knows if he murdered her or not,”we weren’t there”!,and no matter what the judge decided,it would never have been right!!!.
Did you follow the trial? The evidence was overwhelming and he did admit to the shooting, just tried to say he thought it was an intruder. So that he shot and killed her was not the question.
The OJ Simpson trial set the precedence……….money buys the top lawyers…….not what you know….who you know….same old story……
I agree with you Star …it is the same old story.
You got it right, Star. This is a crime in which the perp had a history of incidents with guns in the past which included Professional boxer Kevin Lerena, a friend of Pistorius, testifying the sprinter accidentally fired a gun in a restaurant and asked his friend to take the blame firing a gun in a car with a girl friend present and a hair trigger temper which he displayed on numerous occasions.
Witnesses testifying to hearing the argument and screams of the victim on the night of the murder. Well, no need to go on and on. Anyone who has followed the trial could see the evidence but we have a hot headed murderer who will probably be out of jail after just ten months while his young victim lies dead.
Should we really be surprised by the sentence all through the case it was clear his acting and the lengths his defence attorney went to destroy expert witnesses all pointed to him getting away with it.
That judge was on his side from the getgo as we could see as the trial progressed. So no surprise.
There are many crimes out in the world, that have been committed, and the jail time don’t fit the crime,as for the celebrity exemption,I don’t agree with you,my opinion!.
Seriously? You don’t think the rich and powerful have often gotten considerations the average person doesn’t?
Just the fact that they can afford the most skillful, highest paid defense doesn’t mean a thing? Or the people they know in power?
Your opinion is your opinion and my opinion is mine, the judge did a grand job and I commend her,end of!!.
And I’m pleased she showed “mercy”!!!
And I think that judge failed miserably to administer justice to this murderer. End of.
That’s the way it is. People behind the curtain define the business. The merits in sports gained for his country and his popularity have influenced courts decision.
The questions that comes up now; how much worth is a life??
Obviously this young, vital girl’s existence snuffed out before she could enjoy a full life isn’t worth much according to this sort of justice.
He will probably just serve 10 months in jail then be under house arrest for the rest of the 5 year sentence while she lies dead and buried and her family serves a life sentence of loss.
I think he should have gotten a life sentence.
I agree with you, Annmaire. But what did he get instead? 10 months inside (with good behaviour) with 4 years in house arrest. A travesity.
I agree annie
did he go down that hall quietly so she didn’t scream out to not shoot. I think the sentence is a joke . this was murder done deliberately.
It was premediated and he fired repeatedly into that bathroom door.
Your right Gael total injustice
